Men suspected to be members of the Joint Task Force in Delta state, allegedly invaded Tompolo’s father’s house on Monday, May 30, 2016.
Punch
reports that the soldiers raided Kurutie in Warri South West Local
Government Area of Delta State, around 5am in search of the ex militant
leader and suspected members of the Niger Delta Avengers.
The spokesman for Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Godspower Gbenekama also told newsmen that the soldiers have been stationed permanently in the area.
Gbenekama alleged that the military task force are harassing indigenes of the kingdom.
The
chief also accused the soldiers who raided Tompolo's father's house,
of carting away with briefcases containing money and some vital
documents.
The chairman of Kokodiagbene community, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, also said “Their
(soldiers) continuous visits are posing serious threats to the
communities. We are living in bondage. Gbaramatu kingdom is host to oil
and gas facilities and not to Avengers.
“It
is annoying to observe that within every five to 10 kilometres radius,
there are security gunboats, yet illegal bunkering and vandalism are
going on unabated. Who are they fooling?”
Some security sources revealed to Punch that the soldiers were deployed to the area following intelligence reports.
